“ We used to patronise Home Style at Permai 32. For a change we visited their branch Jia Shi at Gurney Drive. It was Mother's Day. We managed to find parking at Lorong Birch (behind), though the restaurant had her own small car park. Restaurant was full house. We managed a small table after a short wait. Our selection were freshwater prawn, Kam Heong style, fried mustard green, milky ribs, minced meat tofu, and lala. Ate with rice. The milky ribs, minced meat tofu were superb. The mustard green and lala acceptable. The prawn's sauce was delicious but the freshwater prawn itself was all shells & hardly any flesh. Perhaps, its too young to be harvest. Thus, the dish did not justify for the high price! I noticed on the wall a dimsum menu, some dumplings, and desserts. We saved for another visit. ”
“ The food is delicious, and the chefs clearly know their craft. However, the prices for the seafood are a mystery, making it difficult to estimate the total bill. The service is just passable, and the air conditioning leaves much to be desired. ”
“ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This traditional Chinese restaurant came highly recommended by the locals — and now I understand why! It’s a bit far from the main tourist areas, so walking there isn’t ideal, but luckily they provide their own parking space, which is a big plus . We went during dinner and the place was completely full, so do expect a crowd during peak hours — definitely a local favourite. The dishes were tasty, especially the fresh fish which was cooked perfectly . But the real star of the night was the bitter gourd fried egg — super unique and absolutely delicious! I’ve never had it like that anywhere else, and it’s something I’d come back for again . The staff were friendly and provided great service throughout the meal. Overall, a must-visit if you're looking for a local experience with good food — just be sure to drive there early to beat the crowd! ”
“ Tasty food and good service. Read about this eatery ( at Gurney Drive) on FB and brought my mum. Ordered the specialities ( non seafood as only 2 of us) ..Guinness chicken was the winner though the milky ribs and bittergourd egg were good too. The homemade lemongrass (serai) drink is also recommended. Already planning to come back to try the seafood dishes. Esp the fish braised with yam and assam prawns. ”
“ Steam fish is good. Oyster noodle great. Bitter guard egg best. The "xia zhao" is not up to standard,taste kind of bland. The salad prawn is not up to standard too, some of the fruit might smell. Although air con provided, but it is not cooling. Staffs are helpful and patient. Anyhow, their noodle dish taste good. ”
